Be Careful - Wild animals can be very dangerous, especially if they are sick.  Never try to pick one up.  If you see one then call an adult.

Pygmy owls are very small.  It is only about 15 centimeters from the tip of it's beak to the end of it's tail.  If they stretch their wings out, it measures about 38 centimeters from one wing tip to the other.

Look into my eyes!

Most owls are "nocturnal", which means they are active at night when it is dark.  Some owls are "diurnal" which means they are active during the day when it is light.  The pygmy owls are partly "nocturnal" and partly "diurnal".
